Corporate Strategy

The strategy of Biocrates is focused on the discovery and validation of new biomarkers for early disease detection, which will ultimately result in a new range of diagnostics, e.g., for diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, sepsis, stroke, and cancer. Biocrates has screened and identified meaningful biomarkers for these diseases and has already successfully developed biomarkers into the world’s first metabolomics-based kit product.

The other major area of growth for Biocrates is the field of companion diagnostics, leveraging the company’s unique technology for the benefit of partnering research organizations. The purpose of companion diagnostics is to be better able to stratify patients by drug efficacy and safety, paving the way for personalized medicine. Thanks to its many years of experience in contract research for different pharmaceutical, biotech, and nutritional companies, Biocrates combines a thorough understanding of customer needs with a unique expertise in interpreting the biological pathways behind specific biomarker patterns.

The technology Biocrates uses to identify high-potential biomarkers is referred to as metabolomics—the systematic identification and quantification of metabolites in different body fluids.

Biocrates is pursuing an aggressive IP strategy to protect its biomarker-based business. The company holds a particularly strong position in the field of multiple diagnostic markers on the metabolome level. Here, Biocrates can capitalize on its first-mover advantage, with the opportunity of establishing a whole family of basic patents.
