Founded in Innsbruck in 2002 by 3 leading university professors from Innsbruck and Munich as well as Bionorica, a German phytocompany, and equipped with significant seed grants from national and regional organizations, Biocrates became operative in 2003. Current staff has increased from the founding team of 3 to a team of some 50 employees.
In 2006, the renowned German MIG Fonds completed a Series A financing, followed by a Series B financing in 2008. In 2007, Biocrates progressed from a Limited Liability Company to a Joint Stock Company. Since its inception, Biocrates has been a strong participant in national and international funding projects. The Series C financing round is currently open for selected investors, with the existing syndicate of investors having contributed significantly to this round.
