28.11.2008 - Metabolic diseases – in particular the increasingly prevalent type 2 diabetes – are caused by a complex interaction between genetic disposition and unfavorable lifestyle, above all unbalanced diet and too little physical exercise. Researchers at the Helmholtz Zentrum München have now for the first time been able to show a relationship between the genetic make-up of an individual and differences in his/her metabolism.

Worldwide Co-Marketing Agreement with Applied Biosystems
29.05.2008 - BIOCRATES Life Sciences AG, an Innsbruck, Austria-based metabolomics company, today announced that it has entered into a worldwide co-marketing agreement with Applied Biosystems, a leading mass-spectrometer manufacturer.
Under the terms of the agreement, Biocrates will promote Applied Biosystems’ mass spectrometers for targeted metabolomics and for use in conjunction with their AbsoluteIDQ™ Kits. In addition, Applied Biosystems will promote Biocrates AbsoluteIDQ Kits for targeted metabolomics in conjunction with its triple quadrupole and QTRAP® series instruments.

16.04.2008 - Biocrates reports a successful launch of their AbsoluteIDQ™ Kit. The AbsoluteIDQ kit proved to be the only kit available at Analytica 2008 to offer broad metabolite coverage in a single assay. Kits have already been shipped to initial customers, and several Beta test sites have placed large orders for the finished kit.
