Metabolomics for biomarker discovery, food optimization, and fermentation monitoring

Committed to attaining the most trusted and robust targeted metabolomics data in the industry, Biocrates also makes its know-how available to partners from both industry and academia. So far, the company has successfully identified and quantified some 800 metabolites from a broad range of metabolite classes, species, and noninvasively obtained biological samples, with new metabolites and methods constantly being added.

Through our TargetIDQ Services, we help you identify relevant metabolic biomarkers, accelerate your understanding of biochemical pathways, halt the development of non-efficacious or potentially toxic drug candidates early, and accelerate good candidates to market.

Metabolomics: One Technology—Many Applications

Unprecedented insight into complex biological processes

The targeted metabolomics technology is capable of offering unprecedented insights into complex biological processes. Biocrates has successfully partnered with clients from a wide variety of areas, from pharma and biotech to nutrition.

Pharma & Biotech

In pharma and biotech, metabolomics enables detailed biochemical phenotyping by detecting and quantifying deviations from normal for many classes of metabolites simultaneously. By mapping quantitative data to biochemical pathways, metabolomics provides unprecedented physiological and pathophysiological insights.

Fermentation

By finding the rate-limiting factors, such as amino acids or sugars, at multiple time points in the fermentation process, metabolomics can be used to increase yield, reduce waste, and optimize and monitor manufacturing processes.

Nutrition

By quantitatively analyzing noninvasively accessible body fluids, such as plasma or urine, and monitoring metabolites, such as lipids, fatty acids, hexoses, and amino acids, metabolomics can be used to assess the quality of foods in terms of safety and nutritional value, prioritize product candidates, or assess the impact of diet changes on human health.
